One morning a package arrives from Kyrgysztan. It contains a vintage twin lens reflex camera and a handwritten letter from a friend on a 6-month journey through former Soviet States. The letter is illustrated with a colourful drawing. The LOMO Lubitel 166B is send as a present but unexpectedly holds a gift in return. A roll of film inscribed with Cyrillic letters that translate to ISO 64. After developing and printing out the film, a warm and hospitable gathering is revealed through a series of 12 timeless moments between what appears to be a family and two young bearded travelers. Are they relatives or mere passers-by?

Most of the pictures are out of focus or double exposed. The stories of my friend’s travels and his encounters seem to resonate through the blurry depiction of the photographed hosts and their guests.
